Sourcefire Keeps on Truckin'
After withdrawing from its planned merger with Check Point in March (a fascinating story of your government at work), Sourcefire has clearly regrouped and is back on the attack. In the spring, Sourefire announced $20M in incremental funding and healthy revenue growth. Today it announced that Nokia will offer Sourcefire's IPS solution on its high-performance IP Security Platforms. Nokia is still a key Check Point's partner and now Nokia customers will be able to get the Firewall/IPS integration that the Check Point/Sourcefire merger would have produced. We think this functional integration is how firewalls need to evolve in general so it might not be long until more of Check Point's platform partners sign up with Sourcefire to enable the merged product functionality that our Government resisted at the M&A level. Given that Gartner pronounced Sourcefire's approach passé some time ago, Sourcefire is sure doing a good job growing revenue
