Ron Lachman dropped by last week to update us on his latest venture -- Catbird. Ron is a veteran of the infrastructure space going back to the "pre-bubble" era, operating out of Lachman Systems doing early NFS development. Over the years, Ron's been actively working at starting up interesting infrastructure companies like SandPiper in the good old days when Internet caching was a hot subject. His latest venture, Catbird, is doing lots of interesting things at the intersection of security and virtualization including their recently announced Pocket V-Agent which delivers a virtual security appliance on a USB thumb-drive and interoperates with their security as a service platform. The name "Catbird" refers to the seat they intend to occupy in customers' networks to best view security issues.
