I'm sorry, but that's what comes to mind every time I hear "Tarari." They are the core of the old iPivot team, which if your memory is good was the load balancer company that got acquired by Intel and then spun back out as Intel exited many categories of business. Tarari under the leadership of Randy Smerik had conceived of an interesting acceleration chip while at Intel (what else would you do there!) and that was the business at the core of Tarari. Lots of people had looked at it but volume wins were hard to come by. Cisco had designed it into the AON system (if only that had taken off as initially hoped). The biggest win was the fact that it really speeds up high-bandwidth (HD) Windows Media digitization. In any case all that hard work has been rewarded by a nice acquisition by LSI Logic. A tip of our hat to Randy and his team!
